Cleaning and Care Guide

Luxury BeddingSheets are in investment, and should be treated as such. After all a great deal of time and research is usually involved in their selection, and a significant amount of money may be spent. This is all warranted, as we do spend one third of our lives in bed! The good news is, most well constructed linens are capable of lasting for years if proper care is taken. Read on to learn important cleaning and care techniques to extend the life of your bedding.

Washing

We recommend washing your sheets every 5-10 days, depending on your preferences. When washing your sheets, it is best to use cool or warm water. Hot water may be used for those who suffer from allergies or when sheets are soiled, but may be harsher on the fabric. Also, use the delicate cycle for regular washings. The delicate cycle will effectively clean your sheets, while being gentle on the fabric. Again, if your sheets are soiled, you may use a stain-removing cycle. Finally, avoid using fabric softener and dryer sheets when possible, as these tend to leave a residue that detergent alone can’t remove. This will eventually dull colors and deteriorate the fabric.

Drying

Just as with washing, it’s important to be as gentle as possible to your sheets during the drying process. If you’re not in a hurry, use your dryer’s medium heat setting. Don’t over dry your sheets, and remove them from the dryer as soon as possible to avoid wrinkles. If your sheets are not immediately going on the bed, neatly fold and store until they’re needed. For those who have the capability to hang or line dry their linens, this is an excellent choice. Your sheets will dry wrinkle-free, with a smooth, crisp finish.

Additional Tips

  • If your sheets cool in the dryer, and wrinkle, toss a dampened cloth in with them and dry on medium heat for an additional 10 minutes. Promptly remove the sheets.
  • Prefer a crisp feel? Try ironing your sheets. Because of the basic shape, ironing may be easier than you realize, and provides a smooth look and feel
  • Use vinegar to gently care for your sheets. Vinegar provides many of the same benefits as fabric softener, but won’t leave a residue behind. Every two months, add ¼ cup of white vinegar to your wash to brighten and soften linens, while removing residue.
